Wedding Trilogy

Flew over to Kuala Lumpur over the weekend to film a wedding with Alvin. Had a great time with Anthony from Let there be light photography and the wedding planners, Kim and Gloria from Wedding Concierge.

Why a wedding trilogy? Cause it is broken down to 3 parts. The first was the solemnisation at Capella Singapore in Jan 2013.  The next was the dinner banquet at Grand Dorsett Subang, Kuala Lumpur and finally, the last part will be the gatecrash and dinner banquet at St Regis at the end of the month. It is truly my privilege  to be part of their 3 days wedding. I love how the guests react to our videos played during the banquet with joy and happiness for the couple which the team from Alvinadeline made for them.

I also love the couple and their family’s hospitality and attentiveness to our needs during our stay at their hometown in Malaysia. That’s what makes our job as a wedding filmmaker much more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Even after the banquet, there were some guests who came to us to tell us that they like the video very much and the editing was excellent. I’m confident that the company will continue to excel in this field and do our best for all our couples. (:

Here’s ending off with a video from my company, not related to the wedding Trilogy though, Derek & Pearl.

Busy November

Tomorrow marks the last wedding assignment of the month before I enlist for my reservist in the Singapore Armed Forces as a Military Policeman for 1 week from next Tuesday. On what I do when I go back for my reservist, well, it is classified.

Anyway, I look forward to the interesting Indian Wedding tomorrow as the groom made his own arrangement on the song that he would like for us to use for the wedding highlights video. The song is a mash up of 5-6 different songs that spans for a total of up to 6 mins long. After giving our feedback on the song, the song was fine tuned and we hope that we can work magic out of the video that we will be producing after the wedding.

Here’s a video of a wedding that I shot in early October 2013

The interesting thing about shooting this wedding of Michael & Ashley under the brand name, True Love Stories was, having to shoot a church wedding alone after being trained for 1 year under the guidance of the good people at Alvinadeline. If you have shot weddings especially in churches, you would know that it isn’t easy especially going for different angles and capturing vows at the same time. Planning the only march in also took alot of time before the wedding day as I was accustomed to shooting a church wedding in a team of 2 videographers. It was fun and I am glad I managed to deliver what I deemed as a good video after all the months of training. The film was shot with a total of 3 cameras by 1 videographer, myself.

Wedding Photo Slideshows – Facebook Timeline

It is pretty common to have wedding photo slideshows on your wedding day to show you and your partner’s childhood photos till the day you propose, take pre-wedding photos or even the day before your actual wedding day.

I have just shot a wedding on Saturday with the team from Alvinadeline and I have witness an amazing wedding photo slideshow done by the couple themselves. Using after effects and the comments made to them on their facebook timeline, they have created a one of a kind wedding photo slideshow which is pretty engaging as their photos and comments selected to be posted are of a good variety and appropriate.

As the slideshow I have seen on the wedding is not available online, allow me to share with you some other similar facebook theme timeline videos.

If you are interested in doing a similar facebook timeline slideshow for your wedding day, do check out http://videohive.net/item/timeline-story/2601481 where you can purchase the license at $30 and edit to you and your partner’s profile in adobe after effects.

The important part of using such templates for wedding photo slideshows is to work as a couple to make it as personalised as possible. Words and pictures that tell more than just how you look when you were young, photos that tell a story, how both of you met, and if you have developed feelings for each other then and so on would help in allowing your friends and relatives get an insight into your relationship.

Another facebook timeline style of video which I have found done by Rocket Science Productions MY (which I am presume they have done the interview clips within the slideshow)
Just one comment, if you are doing interview videos and you know that the person is sitting down not moving much, please do use a tripod!

And last of all, here’s leaving behind a music video of the song, 家後 which was sang by the bridesmaid, Renny  (1/5 of the Black Forest Band) on Saturday accompanied by Rebekah on the keys,

Wishing the couple, Junyi and Lingyi a blissful marriage and a great honeymoon in New York!

Why a wedding filmmaker?

Hi world. My name is Benny which you would have probably know if you are reading this. I’m currently a wedding filmmaker at True Love Stories, a sister company of Alvinadeline Weddings.

As I was heading home from work today, it dawn onto me why would anyone else be a wedding filmmaker? or in Singapore, we can call ourselves as videographer.

Technically, both a filmmaker and videographer’s job are almost the same. We create videos for our clients be it corporate or couples getting hitched and would like to have their wedding day documented on film.

So the question comes to my mind. Why a wedding filmmaker?

For myself, I am able to answer with ease. I would want to document a wedding couple’s happiest moment in their life. The day when they pledge their love to one another. The day where everyone is happy. Besides that, I want to like for my wedding clients and people who view those videos know that true love or love itself between people exist.; be it parents and children or husband and wife.

I was a finance manager in a research centre in a local university in Singapore before jumping the bandwagon to do wedding videography with the team at Alvinadeline Weddings. If it wasn’t for Alvinadeline, I would probably not have chose to leave my job then. You may wish to take a look at their works and you will know why.

For the past few years, I have watched countless of wedding videos, many touched my heart and many made me wonder why did the videographer chose to do this full time.

If you do engage any wedding filmmaker or videographer for your wedding, do ask him/her why they chose to leave their previous occupation to pursue wedding filmmaking.
